I'm going to be stuck at home for the next three weeks after having surgery on both my hands tomorrow, so I won't be able to do very much at all. So the plan is to read (on the ipad so I don't have to hold a book or turn pages), watch a whole lotta movies and maybe some TV shows, and get in on some extra sleep. I'm all set for books, but would love some suggestions for movies. Mainly, I like horror, good thrillers, the occasional comedy. TV shows, I do love sitting down to watch an entire season at once when I have the time, so if you have any suggestions for those I'd love it (same genres apply as above, though I'm already up to date with The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Breaking Bad, Dexter, GoT, but things along those lines would be cool).

So is there anything you would recommend?

Have you tried Supernatural Lil? It's pretty damn awesome and fits your tastes.

You know, I don't think I've ever watched an episode of that before, might have to check it out. Thanks dude. It's got Mark Sheppard in at one point, doesn't it? Ohhh, Canton.

I'm not sure that I can make any suggestions for TV or movies, but sending positive force your way for a smooth recovery from the surgery Lil.

I've been really into Grimm, Touch (with Kiefer Sutherland), and Modern Family.
Heard from quite a few people that Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire are really good too. Have you watched True Blood?
Hope you make a speedy recovery xox

Oh yes, if you love the trashy teen dramas, Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little liars are sooo addictive  Smilie_PDT

Lots of force for you with the surgery Lil. I hope you recover quickly.

I'm up to date with True Blood, but I've give those others a go for sure. I'm only on day four, and I'm going nuts! I can use my right hand now (thank god), but it's still painful. Nerve block has only just worn off fully on the left, and there's a massive bandage on it, so I can't really use it for much at all, but my fingers are still weak anyway.

I'd looked at the 666 Park Ave trailer not that long ago, will have to go find the pilot.

Thanks for your suggestions!

I think I've seen an episode or two of My Embarrassing Body, but I tend to prefer the My Strange Addiction/My Weird Obsession. Some of those are really WTF, but you do genuinely feel for the people with bizarre addictions.

I had the left carpal tunnel release (had the right done a couple of years ago), and had to have multiple injections done on the right for De Quervain's Tenosynovitis.

Honestly, as far as surgeries go, it's not terrible. They do the nerve block so as to minimise pain after surgery, so your hand is pretty useless for a while as that wears off, and the bandaging renders it pretty useless until that comes off (they put an insanely thick bandage on, or will give you a sort of cast to protect the newly exposed nerves straight after surgery). It does make you rethink everything you do with your hands as a team, since doing certain things one handed is very difficult. Just make sure you've got someone to help you around the house for a while with everyday tasks, and you should be ok.
